Quite often, after installing plastic windows in the winter, the hosts notice moisture, and then icing, but the company that sold and installed windows claims that this is allowed according to GOST. Believe or not?
The problem of plastic windows is that the houses of old buildings do not have other natural ventilation, except through the windows – the air enters the house through the slots of the window, and is removed through the ventilation box. The plastic window is hermetic, that is, it does not pass the air either outside or into the house, while the air becomes wet due to fumes when cooking and breathing. Therefore, condensate is formed on a plastic window, and when contacting the water steam is condensed, it is condensed.
However, if moisture appears in the fall, when it is already cold outside, and heating is not yet turned on, or in the spring in similar conditions, then this is the norm. If the condensate is formed in winter, in the heating season, then it is worth reconsider due to which the microclimate is disturbed. It can be an incorrect installation of heating radiators or too low in the room. The reason may be a wide window sill, which does not allow warm air from heating devices to get to the window, as it should be with proper air circulation in the heating period. Either decorative screens on heating radiators, which also prevent the normal air movement.
It is very simple to solve and prevent the problem – install special valves for ventilation of the room with a closed window. Or as often as possible open a window for clicking ventilation.
