Breast milk

Porridge

At 5 months, the baby’s diet can be diversified by various silence or milk porridge. Gradually, they will replace the last (before bedtime) feeding. Thanks to a thicker consistency, the porridge saturates the baby for a longer period, and it can sleep better. Enter the cereals in the child’s menu should also be gradually, like the rest of the complementary foods. First, it is recommended to offer the baby silent porridge, diluting with water or a mixture familiar to him.

For a 5-month-old child, it is not recommended to start complementary foods with pearl barley and millet porridge, coarse in consistency, as well as from semolina containing gluten. It can cause allergic reactions or gastrointestinal disorder, so semolina can be offered to a child only from 9 months of age.

At 5 months, pediatricians recommend giving the baby buckwheat, rice or corn porridge. They contain calcium and potassium, phosphorus and zinc, iron and magnesium, as well as vitamins. They are less allergic, especially buckwheat porridge, and very nutritious, well tolerated and absorbed by children. Entering the porridge into the child’s diet begins with 1-2 spoon before feeding and within 7-10 its amount gradually increases. It is recommended to introduce milk porridge after complete addiction to silent porridge. With diathesis manifestations, it is recommended to cook porridge in a decoction of vegetables. You can add wiped pumpkin or apple, cottage cheese to the porridge. Mixed porridge from different cereals are the most nutritious and useful.
